PROPPED YEWS in churchyards – by
Tim Hills
Introduction
Meeting Heath and Safety regulations is of concern to those who
share the responsibility for maintaining our churchyards, but while
the fear of litigation and financial liability cannot be ignored,
it should not override common sense.
When a risk assessment is carried out on one of Britain’s ancient
yews and a cause for concern is expressed, the remedy does not necessarily
have to be costly or complicated; in many cases it can be as simple
as the provision of a few well placed props. |
