What's New - December 2018

This Christmas I received the 3rd edition of The Ancient Yew, by Robert Bevan-Jones, a book whose 1st edition appeared in 2002, before the existence of the Ancient Yew Group. In Robert’s introduction to this latest edition he notes that the Ancient Yew Group’s “website has grown …………to be the largest database of individual tree studies in the world, of any species.”
We are rightly proud of this and continue to add newly discovered yews, as well as updating photos and information on other yew trees.

Information from 4000 churchyards visited in England and Wales
During the process of recording our oldest yews, the Ancient Yew Group has acquired much information about less celebrated younger yews.
To satisfy requests that this information too might be available to interested parties, two new webpages have been constructed. They are found in the Church of England and Church in Wales webpages under the heading “Churchyards Visited in Each County”.
These lists link every churchyard visited to the information we hold. It includes places visited where no yews have been found.
