Notes: A much photographed yew best known for the steps which lead to the pulpit in its hollow centre. Girth of 24' 1'' at 6'' - the height of the step - was recorded in 1999. This is a fine tree with a fluted red bole and numerous tall branches rising all around the hollow centre. In 1984 Reg Wheeler measured the yew and recorded a girth of 720cm (23' 7'') at the ground.
