Bramshaw Wood

Tree ID: 5746

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 297cm

Girth height: at narrowest

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 22/6/2013

Source of earliest mention: Peter Norton

Notes:

Peter Norton: A veteran yew which has lost a large portion of its outer bole, leaving a horse shoe hollow shape. A break of crown at about 5’, with three main branches. The girth of 9’ 9” (297cm) was measured at its narrowest point, below the bulge and does not take into account the missing outer bole. This is the first urn shaped yew I have seen in the New Forest. There are also a few juvenile yews scattered about, possibly regeneration via seed.
