Notes:

This is an extraordinary sight, the tree layering two or three times over, with the radius from the centre to the edge over 19m. Girth of the fine bole was 3.75m, but it seems to me that most of the tree’s energy has gone into the impressive layering, certainly covering the largest area I have seen in a yew in Scotland. One of the first stems to emerge in the first layering was 2.27m. The tree has been trimmed around the edges, effectively controlling the spread.
In spite of its modest girth, it is considered likely to have an age above 400 years and is classified as Ancient.
