Guilden Sutton

1988: Information about this tree was sent to the Conservation Foundation as part of the Country Living magazine’s request for yew information. V. Wright sent in the following measurements: 368cm (12′ 1”) at 3′ and 390cm (12′ 9½” ) at 4′. On the strength of this information a certificate giving the yew an age of 400 years was issued and sent to the church.
With access to google earth it is possible to see that this yew has been larger still. Part of its bole is missing and it appears to have an internal stem. Its girth today would certainly be above 4m.
