Notes:2006: D.F.Pope sent information to the Conservation Foundation. At that time the tree was in the grounds of Wispers School. The head teacher expressed worries about the future safety of the tree, reporting that a fire 18 months earlier was put out in time to save the tree. It was noted that there was an old carpet and other rubbish nearby, as well as elder and brambles growing around its base. A girth of 17′ (518cm) was recorded.
3/11/2008: Tony Burgoyne recorded the yew as having a girth of 490cm (16′ 1”) at 100cm. It was around this time that Wispers School closed down.
