Heath - Shropshire

This ancient yew was very much alive in 1852, the date of this woodcut, printed by Thomas Rice. It says ‘the ancient yew tree on the right is a feature of early views, its site now marked by a depression in the ground.’ I have also been told that British History on-line has a photograph of the yew dated c1900 and that there also exists a photograph of the tree in 1949 by S.A.Jeavons.
