Tree ID: 1743
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 574cm
Girth height: No data
Tree sex: Unspecified
Date of visit: 21/8/2005
Source of earliest mention: 1938: The King's England - Arthur Mee
Notes:1992 – Percy Morgan: Tree reported this to the Tree Register as dead, with a diameter of 155cm at 0.9m.
August 2005 – Tim Hills: We recorded a girth of well above 18′ at 3′. A living yew grows next to the dead tree.
March 2017 – Paul Wood: Both yews at the west end of the church were engulfed in brambles, ivy, mounds of rubbish and soil. This was a surprise since the rest of the churchyard was well looked after. Behind the gravestone propped against the ancient yew there appeared to still be living wood. Perhaps a concerted effort to remove the ivy might allow for regrowth?
