Notes:1994: In Chetan and Brueton’s The Sacred Yew, a girth of 30′ is given in Meredith’s Gazetteer.
1999 – Tim Hills: Here are two well developed fragments. One leans almost to the ground before rising in two main branches. The second is twisted, with thin lines of growth flowing over decaying wood. A mountain ash grows in it, already almost as tall as the yew.
2010 – Allen Meredith and Janis Fry: We had sheltered under the branches of this old yew which consisted of two huge portions of trunks, separated in this way no doubt by a lightning strike or severe storm damage, the two stems were twisted and contorted as if some huge force was at work. The main concern we have is that the church is no longer used and if it should fall into private ownership the yew could be in danger.
