1848 – Lewis’s Topographical Dictionary described ‘a park of great beauty…….. in the gardens and shrubberies, which are extensive, is a walk of yew-trees, supposed to be several centuries old.’ The yew avenue I am told is now in the form of a yew tunnel. It is seen here in an old postcard c1905.
