Notes:March 1999 – Tim Hills: Crown appears to have been truncated at 16’/20′. Foliage sparse and dull. Girth was recorded as follows: 17′ 0” (518cm) at the ground, 16′ 10” (513cm) at 3′ and 17′ 11” (546cm) at 5′.
July 2002 – Virginia Cutler: Recorded for the Conservation Foundation with a girth of 17′ (518cm) at 3′ and 17′ 10” (544cm) at 4′.
It is reported that in the 1849 Sharpes London Magazine is an entry stating that “In Monks Horton churchyard there is a tree sixteen feet six inches in girth, averaging the same……..” I have been unable to verify this information.
