North Stifford

The rector in 2007, Andy Higgs, informed me that the tree still existed – a much convoluted trunk and difficult to tell whether it belonged to a really ancient tree, or whether part of its trunk was missing. In the early 1960s the old Victorian Rectory, along with barn, stables etc were pulled down and a new rectory built in c1968. To finance the project much of the land was sold and new houses built. The yew is consequently in a neighbouring back garden to the present rectory.
