Notes:

This is the larger of two yews, growing north of the church and is seen here in 2025.
1988 – Conservation Foundation survey: Girth was 9′ 8” (295cm) at 3′ and 11′ (335cm) at 4′. The latter measurement was considered unreliable as the writer describes how “at 4′ so many branches have come out just below that it was impossible to measure the girth of the main trunk.”
2025 – Matt Hicks recorded a yew that didn’t want to be measured! After a struggle through thick undergrowth and a lot of foliage around the base he questioned the accuracy of his measurement of 394cm (12′ 11”) at 3′ and 358cm (11′ 9”) at 5′.

A second smaller girthed yew grows south of the church. In 1988 its girth was 7′ 10” (239cm) at 3′ and 7′ 3” (221cm) at 4′. In 1988 Allen Meredith aged the larger girthed yew as 280 years and the smaller yew as 150 years. Certificates with these estimated ages were sent to the church.
