August 26th 1897: Measurements of “The Yew by the big BATHING POOL near the churchyard, taken by A.Sparrow and published in his book The History of Church Preen.”
21′ 10” (665cm) at its base. 21′ 3” (648cm) at one foot from the ground. 19′ 3” (587cm) at four feet from the ground. 18′ 3” (556cm) at seven feet from the ground.
December 30th 1983 – Allen Meredith recorded a girth of 19′ 6” (594cm) at 4′ for a tree that ‘appears to be quite solid’.
October 1st 2000 – Tim Hills: A remarkable display of secondary stems which can be followed from the roots, along the outside of the tree and into the branches. Girth of 19′ 1” (582cm) measured above the protruding branch.
