Notes:

Hutchison wrote in 1890 that ‘the frequent use to which the yew was put about two centuries ago was in planting avenues’. Roseneath is named as a ‘beautiful instance of this style of treatment’. The 1910 photo shows a fine avenue, the second shows all that remained in 2007.
