Tree girth: 410cm
Girth height: at 100cm
Tree sex: Unspecified
Date of visit: 31/10/2020
Source of earliest mention: Vaughan Cornish 1946
Notes:1946: “A yew tree” was recorded in Cornish’s book The Churchyard Yew and Immortality.
2009: It is puzzling why the information sent to Cornish only mentioned one yew, for in 2009 we counted at least 9 yews in this churchyard. As well as the male/female pairing of 6ft girth at the west gate to the church, there is a trio on the north side with a further 4 also noted. Largest of these was a female yew with a girth of 11′ 10” (361cm) at 3′.
2023: Jan Goodey recorded this yew for the Ancient Tree Inventory as having a girth of 410cm (13′ 5”) at 1m. Is this the same tree I measured in 2009?
