Notes:

High wall and ivy conceals evidence of how large this tree has been. The crown has been drastically reduced. In the early 1990s a letter received by the Conservation Foundation gave the following information: Height of the tree approximately 24′. Girth measured at 4′ using string and recorded as 18′ 6” (564cm). The trunk divides as a result of earlier cutting at 6′ above ground. The writer felt that the tree ‘might be under threat from well meaning church wardens’.
