Notes:

1829 – Notes on the Churches of Kent by Sir Stephen Glynne: ‘…….there is a fine yew tree in the churchyard.’
1993 – A letter from R.H.Buxton, chuchwarden to the Conservation Foundation reported a girth of 28′ at 3′.
April 1999 – Tim Hills: Large sections of its bole appear dead. Searching behind almost impenetrable growth I found the living wood which supports thick foliage on its many branches. I recorded a girth of only 17′ 9” (541cm) at the ground. Allen Meredith’s undated notes suggest the tree suffered storm damage and split, reducing its 28′ girth. This would have presumably happened between 1993 and 1999, yet there is no record of it.
