Notes:February 1984 – Allen Meredith: At about 4′ from the ground its girth measured 34′ 4” and near the base its girth was 29′ 2”. There is obvious decay inside thhe trunk, but it is a healthy looking tree. There is one wooden support for this old tree, much decay on the east side has reduced its original girth. The female yew grows west of the church. The old village stocks are just outside the churchyard.
June 1988 – Allen Meredith: Another visit at the request of Mrs Robson, to investigate damage to the yew during the recent autumn hurricane. Some of the damage was caused by a large bough from a nearby maple tree. Although several large branches have broken off, the trunk remains intact. The yew’s position from the church is SW.
March 1999 – Tim Hills: Four major areas of growth lean outwards with branches spreading over a large area. High in the centre of the tree are portions of the original trunk. Girth: 28′ 0” (853cm) between ground and 3″: 28′ 7″ (871cm) at 1′ : 30′ 11″ (942cm) at 3′.
