Tree ID: 6938
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 428cm
Girth height: at 100cm
Tree sex: unspecified
Date of visit: 15/6/2025
Source of earliest mention: 1988 - The Churchyard Yews of Gwent - J.Daryll Evans
Notes:15/6/2025 – Tim Hills: Largest and most impressive of a trio of yews, full of character and with much hollowing. On one side of the tree at ground level is the point where an enormous branch, which would have taken the tree over an adjacent field, has been removed. Fresh and bright yellow laetiporus sulphureus could be seen. I recorded a girth of 428cm (14′ 0”) at 1m. I also measured just above the height of the sawn off branch and recorded 411cm (13′ 6”). This measurement height was marked with some nails.
