Notes:

The church records show that this yew was planted in 1775: “Memorandum 1775, that a Yew or Palm Tree, grew in ye North side of ye tower, 7 foot down from ye top, ande was dug out and planted, in ye churchyard, ye south side of ye church, in ye same place where was one blown down by ye wind a few years ago. N.B. The above tree when dug out was 4 feet long, and supposed to be nine years growth. Witness our hands this 25th day of November 1775. signed by Jn Snow Hayman and William Channon – churchwardens.
1879: A girth of 4′ 7” (140cm) was recorded by Revd.H.T. Ellacombe.
1983: A girth of 8′ (244cm) was recorded by Revd Alec. E. Osmond for Allen Meredith.
July 2007 – Tim Hills: The yew planted in 1775 had a girth of 8′ 1” (246cm) at 1′.
