Notes: Hut Wood was once part of the large North Stoneham Park, owned by the Willis Flemings family for more than 200 years and then leased to the Forestry Commission for timber production. It was formerly part of Chilworth Forest and then carved up by the construction of the M3/M27 interchange. Currently the public have access to the wood only because the Forestry Commission allows it, but this is a privately owned wood and access rights could change. It is possible to park on a raised part of the old Bournemouth road B3043 just south of a large supermarket at SU427180. From here the walk takes you to the east on a wide track and the first yews are found at SU4267118519. Girths and location of the 8 largest yews are shown here.
