Notes: In the Description of Dukinfield (c1830) we are told that 'At Yew Tree there was an old farm named after the huge old yew that grew beside it.' In Reminiscences of Dukinfield (1837) the location of the yew is quite specific: 'In Yew-Tree-lane, very near to Cheetham Hill road, stands what remains of that very old landmark, the old yew tree.'
