Notes: The church was completely rebuilt in the 19th century on a site thought to date back to late Saxon times. Whether this was the head tree (heafod treow) beneath which the Saxon kings held court will never be known. The Tree Council included it in their list of 50 'Great British Trees' in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's jubilee year.
