The yew grows on a boundary bank, the 'Cross of Hoo' being a boundary point in the perambulation for the Forest of Porcestr' inserted in the Forest Eyre (circuits) of 1280. 'Crosses' were often precursors to Churches/Chapels in the early years of Christian worship.
