Notes: It is thought that there was a castle on this site before the Norman Conquest. The yew grows right up against a wall and nearby buildings, so that root spread is severely restricted. It is thought that there once used to be a larger clump of perhaps 4 or 5 yews, also that there might have been a chapel nearby.
