Notes: A 15th century church which was built outside of the town. In The Western Antiquary of 1881/2 Vol X July1890/91 is the following: "Eight fine yews grace the main path leading from the town to the north west porch. They were the gift of the Honourable Honorable Sir James Sheppard, Knight, one of his Majesty's Sergeants-at-Law, who died April 13, 1730, aged 49, and were originally brought from that nobleman's garden at Lawell, near Chudleigh.
