Notes: Lewis's 1833 Topographical Dictionary of Wales described a remarkably picturesque churchyard 'adorned with some fine yew-trees, several of which, though of great age, are flourishing in full vigour'. In 1870 John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales said the church was 'shaded by massive yew-trees'. Eight yews were recorded in the Brecon Tree Survey but several are 'lost' since that time.
