Notes: This small area of woodland is found next to Loudoun Gowf Course (spelling is correct!) between the town of Newmilns and Loudoun Castle. The eastern part of the woodland is still known as 'Hag's Plantation'. The entrance to the woods is accessible from a lay-by on the A71 Edinburgh to Irvine road. This area joins the Loudoun Castle estate and it is possible that the original castle, or buildings that serviced the castle, once occupied this area. It is thought that the land is managed by the Ayrshire Woodlands Trust. A google earth reference for the site is North 55 36 26 8 West 4 21 32 37.
