Notes: Notes and Queries Jan 25, 1890: "On the south side of the churchyard of the picturesque parish of Niton, on the seaboard and down of the Isle of Wight, is an altar-tomb, under which rest the remains of the Rev.John Barwis, M.A. who was fo 42 years rector of Nilton, and died in 1828. It is overshadowed by a yew tree, which he is said to have planted."
