Notes: Ropley church is thought to be around 700 years old. As well as the two yews recorded here, the smallest yew in the churchyard actually grows out of a railed tomb, the ironwork is now embedded in its bark (7' 4'' / 2.23m). Nearby, close to the entry gate, a delightfully clipped garden yew acts as a counterpoint to its aged relations in the churchyard. (Russell Cleaver)
