Notes: The church dates back to the 13th century. A local tradition, recorded in 1910 is as follows: that King Charles the Martyr, when taking refuge with Henry Skipworth at Cotes, walked over to Stanford with him, and they sat beneath the yew tree discussing the affairs of the kingdom.
