Notes: The earliest parts of the church were thought to be Norman, with the original dedication in 1144 being to St Nicholas. However in 2026 Paul Wysom, researching his family history, has discovered that in about 1080, Withenoc De La Boussac endowed Staunton Church to the abbey of St Florent in Saumur, France. The yew grows on a small mound to the east of the church.
