Notes: Extracts from the Churchwardens Accounts for Wimborne Minster during the period 1680-1685. 1680-1 pd for a yew tree bringing and setting: 1681-2 pd Henry Brewer for watering the yew tree. 1684-5 pd for bringing down the yew tree and setting it in the churchyard. Apparently the young tree planted in 1680-1 was not thriving, notwithstanding the fostering care of Henry Brewer during the following year: and another tree had taken its place in 1684-5. This latter one, so far as I know, is the one which is seen today on the south side of the Minster. Information from Jas. M.S.Fletcher 1929.
