October 2009: This is the largest yew in this 18th century grove that shelters some Ogham stones. Though they date from the early fifth to the middle of the seventh century and are usually associated with old churches or burial sites, these were brought here from Kilbonane, near Killarney, where two had been found inserted in a farmhouse wall. Height of the tree is 14m and its girth is 4.97m (16′ 4”) at 40cm.
