May 2011 – Trevor Langley: The shape of this trunk is unusual for a yew. An average girth figure was arrived at from the following measurments: 5.45m at the ground, 4.50 (14′ 9”) at 30cm, 3.80 (12′ 6”) at 60cm and 2.90 at 1m from ground. There appears to be dieback in some of the upper branches and squirrels have been biting off some of the tree’s new shoots. Branching begins at the height of about 2m.
