February 2004 – Tim Hills: Four yews recorded as follows:
SW 11′ 10” (361cm) at 1′ – female
West 9′ 5” (287cm) at 2′ – female
WNW 8′ 9” (267cm) at 2′ -female
NW 11′ 7” (353cm) at 3′ – male
There were further trees on the far side of a high brick wall east of the church. A reference c1936 to Aldermaston in Mee’s King’s England says “High up are the church and manor house, surrounded by magnificent cedars, ancient yews, great limes and elms.”
In 2012 Peter Norton recorded 4 yews as follows:
North of the church: Male girthing 11’ 8” (3566cm) at 1’ 11’ 7” (353cm) at 2’ (marked by a nail) and 11’ 11” (363cm) at 3’.
Along the west perimeter and close to a private gate are three females:
The 1st girthing 9’ 1” (277cm) at 1’ and 8’ 10” (269cm) at 2’ .
The 2nd just north of the gate 9’ 5” (287cm) at 1’ 9”.
The 3rd south of the gate with a girth of 12’ 3” (373cm) at the root crown.
The yews were all measured at a height where somebody had hammered a nail into the tree.
