Tree ID: 2176

Yews recorded: Ancient 7m+

Tree girth: 856cm

Girth height: at 60cm

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 23-Jan-06

Source of earliest mention: 2006: Peter Andrews

Notes:

January 2006 – Peter Andrew: An enormous yew on the east side of the graveyard above a big drop to the field below and commercial watercress beds. It is covered in ivy and appears solid, with new growth on the edges of the ancient trunk. Viewed with difficulty on the side close to the drop reveals hollow spaces.
April 2006 – Tim Hills: Ivy has been removed and reveals a fine tree with a girth of 28′ 1” (856cm) at about 2′. Live wood on most of trunk.
March 2012 – Peter Norton: Thick stemmed ivy has been cut through and most removed. Evidence of much dead wood on the east side of the tree (partial hollowing of one of the main leaders) I recorded about 28′ at about 2′.
