August 2007 – Tim Hills: A small-girthed yew of 11′ 6” (350cm) at 2′ with features of a much older tree. The 3rd and 4th photos show an internal stem which now forms part of the outside of the tree. Around is are traces of sapwood and much crumbling heartwood. The tree has been managed and while there are no branches for the first 5′, above this height is considerable bulging caused by the systematic removal of branches.
In 2013 I recorded a girth of 11′ 9” (359cm) at 2′ recorded. Although the tree is small girthed, it has features that might suggest an age of above 300 years.
