Tree ID: 2580
Yews recorded: V - con
Tree girth: 345cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 5-Aug-07
Source of earliest mention: 1843: J.C.Loudon - Arboretum
Notes:Only one of the two remains. It grows SW and when viewed from the church appears to be a solid tree. From the other side it can be seen that a large portion of the tree has gone, revealing internal growth. There is much adventitious growth on both trunk and branches. A second yew in the churchyard grows to the NE girths about 9′. This would have been too small 160 years ago to have been the 2nd tree Loudon described as ‘above 500 years’.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
