Notes:

The botanic garden was created in 1831, and unless there are records that show these yews were already in situ, we should assume this to be the planting date for these trees. Since they would have been a few years old at the time of planting it would make their present age approximately 200 years. Although there are other yews in the gardens, these eight yews are in the main circular area. One photo is shown of each of the 8 trees.
Yew 1: 2.85m at 1.5m (9′ 4” at 5′).
Yew 2: This tree splits into two at 4′. Girth was 4.5m at 1.5m (14′ 9” at 5′) and 4.2m at 30cm ( 13′ 9” at 1′ – the narrow waist above the root growth).
Yew 3: 3.65m at 1.5m (12′ at 5′).
Yew 4: 2.95m at 1.5m (9′ 8” at 5′).
Yew 5: 2.1m at 1.5m (6′ 11” at 5′).
Yew 6: measured over ivy 4.5m at 1.5m (14′ 9” at 5′).
Yew 7: starts to split at 5′. Girths of 3.3m at 1.5m (10′ 10” at 5′) and 3.0m at 30cm (9′ 10” at 1′).
Yew 8: splits at 4′. Girths recorded were 2.7m at 1.5m (8′ 10” at 5′), 2.6m at 1m (8′ 6” at 3′), 2.9m at 50cm (9′ 6” at 18″).
