Notes:

From a leaflet issued by the Derbyshire tourism industry: ‘Keep an eye open in Stand Wood for ancient oaks and yews, some being over 500 years old’. We found only one which fitted this description by following the purple trail. A line of younger yews leads to the fine tree on a sharp right hand bend. Continue up the steep hill to the tower. More yews are to be found close to the tower and by continuing along the purple route as far as the waterfall.
