Notes:Notes and Queries of 1911 carries the following description: ‘at the north-east corner of the churchyard, underneath a large yew tree, considered to be upwards of 800 years old’. From what little remains it is difficult to assess how substantial this yew once was. There is no conclusive evidence that this is a remnant of an enormous old yew. But it is still alive with new growth on more than one section of its trunk.
