Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 630cm

Girth height: at 180cm

Tree sex: unspecified

Source of earliest mention: 2011: Penny Daish/Gary Manning

Notes:

A hollowed out yew. 20′ 8” at 6′. The structure marked in the 1st photo possibly formed as an internal stem growing down through the centre of the tree when it was a cylindrical shape and before it lost large sections of its trunk. The original tree would therefore have been considerably larger in girth (photo 2). The 3rd photo shows the intact side of the tree, with the letter A marking the ring of growth seen in the final photograph, which was taken from a point several feet higher up amongst the tree’s branches and looking downwards to the ground.
