Notes:

The yew stands on a lawn directly in front of the castle and is quite unique in form and growth habit. A domed canopy of 30m diameter hides a huge central mass of a profusion of stems growing from ground level, the base of which measures 10m in circumference. Ground runner branches radiate from the centre, reach the canopy edge without rooting and then curve upwards to a height of over 5m creating a wall of growth which has to be walked through to access the interior.
