Tree girth: 453cm

Girth height: at 5cm

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 8-Sep-13

Source of earliest mention: 2015: Tim Hills

Notes:

1991 – Percival Morgan: The yew was recorded as having a girth of 396cm at 1.2m.
September 2013 – Tim Hills: The yew is taking the shape of a horse shoe hollow tree, though 2′ of its south side base is still in situ. As well as part of the tree being cut off at this height, it has also been at some time in the past truncated at a height of 8’/9′. The yew now consists of a series of new stems which appear plastered onto the remains of the old tree. There was some internal growth visible. The centre was filled with ivy that has taken root in the decaying material. Girth close to the ground was 14′ 10” (452cm). This will change when the front part of the trunk decays and the old heartwood is completely lost. 13′ 7” (414cm) at 3′ was also recorded.
