In February 2003 there was a circle of stones around the mound. Thick ivy hindered detailed examination but it was evident that the yew had been larger in the past. A girth of 15′ 8” (478cm) was recorded, over some thick ivy stems, between the ground and 1′.
May 2008 – Tom Seymour-Ancient Tree Hunt: Girth of 510cm at 150cm recorded 21/5/08.
2019 – Tim Hills: Girth was again recorded over ivy and was close to 16′. More of the tree could be seen on this occasion confirming that it has been larger girthed in the past. The final photos show another section that is becoming detached from the tree.
