August 1999 – Tim Hills: A large hollow tree standing on 6 ‘legs’. Also an internal stem. Girth 26′ 3” (800cm) at the ground.
June 2007 – Russell Cleaver: Girth recorded as 21′ 7”/6.58m at about 3′.
July 2015 – Paul Wood: The ancient specimen is situated at the west end of the church. It appears to have much regrowth since the photograph taken in 1999. Somebody has seen fit to store sheep skulls in the tree’s hollow. We also measured at 3′ and recorded exactly 22′ (6.71m).
