Notes:

There was ‘formerly a yew tree on the south side, but it was in a very decayed state in 1796, and was cut down four years later’. When the 1911 History of the County of Lancaster was published it recorded that ‘another tree now marks its position’. It did not state whether this was planted in 1796 as a replacement yew.
